New Year 2020 Resolutions

I write this post over a breakfast of bagels and cream cheese and American coffee, the likes of which I haven't tasted in a year. Sitting here in a familiar routine I have not had the time for, nor the resources (bagels are hard to come by in Italy), it is almost easy to slip back into the life I once lived. Before I began sporadically--and now continually--living in Italy. Before the insanely stressful yet immensely formative year of 2019.
But I'm not here now, writing on this blog for the first time in over six months, to recap what I have already done so over on Instagram. I'm here to look toward the future--and toward some things I'd like to get caught up on in the new year:
1. Start a new novel
I already have a new fantasy in the works. I'm itching to get to the drafting stage, my favorite part, but right now I'm juggling plotting, character development, and fleshing out the magic system. It's also looking like it'll be my first non-YA project. As much as I love YA, I really want to write about characters in their 20s, embarking on true independence and adulthood for the first time, because personally, my 20s have been far more formative and impactful for me as a person than my teens were.
2. Update this website
I'm happy with the basic content I have up for you all to browse through, but when I get some significant time this year, I'd like to re-do the aesthetics a bit. We'll see...
3. Get my professional life in order
Update my resume, start job searches, etc.
4. Read more
I barely had any time to read last year, and it almost killed me. I can't do that again; reading and writing need to be priorities in my life. I'm hoping to catch up on a lot of books this year.
Are you in the habit of making New Year's Resolutions, and if so, what do you want to accomplish? Let's set out to make 2020 a great year.
